Just finished installing dynamat and a layer of "foil/bubble wrap" in the '68, now I need to install the new carpet kit. Part of me wants to skip adhesive altogether, but I assume that would not be wise. What should I use to stick the stuff down with?
I gutted my interior when I had the roll cage done. I installed aluminum bubble fire proof matting and cover it with short pile flame retardant carpet. Fire scares me. Even with a fire system and a fire suit. Hardly a race weekend goes by without some massive car fire.

Exactly. The only areas you need adhesive for the carpeting is up at the firewall (if you don't re-install the carpet plugs), on the bulkhead behind the seats, and on the vertical panel at the back of the storage area (also, if you don't re-install the carpet plugs). The seats, door sills, and the consoles hold all the rest in place.
