Are you telling me the block is for a 69? I just got a 69 convertable and it has a bb 396 in it.... I wanted to take it out and if this is the case.... I know I will and put the 350 in it..... What makes it a matching #'s car??? It is a 4 bolt as well.... thanks
Hi RM,
There is a long list of parts that make up a numbers matching car. ( Without even thinking about whether the part is the original part the car left St.Louis with.)
On the block things to check are the block casting number and date on the rear flange of the block and the front stamp pad (in front of the right side head) for the engine assembly date with suffix code and the serial number derivative.
Here's an example of a 71 350/270 built in Jan 71. The engine was built the 7th of January and went into car number 6589.
I hope this gets you started.

Alan
Alan... thanks for your help... I just went down and checked the #'s on it and got.... V0502TJA .... I did not see any other #'s like yours on the left side...???? why is that?
Hi RM,
TJA looks like it's a block from, or intended for, a 73 or 79 truck. The block casting number will help determine which year.
I'm not sure why there's no vin stamp.

Alan
