Default Holley Carburetor

Hello All,

I'm thinking about adding a 4 barrel Holley Carburetor to my '81 Vette. Can anyone recommend a good model that adds preformance and that is the BEST bet for this car?

Thank You

Call the Holley support line, it is on their web site. The will discuss your setup and make a recommendation based on that.

I beleive 81 came with ECM and ECM carb? If yes this change becomes more problematic.

If all the ECM stuff is gone, and you want to keep your stock intake, models 4165 and 4175 are direct replacements for Qjet. 4175 (Vac Secs) is better if you have auto trans.

If you want to go straight bore you will need a intake upgrade or adapter plate (which I would not recommend), and then you may have hood clearance issues. I'm sure more folks will chime in.

If you want to go with the Holly route, I highly recommend the Holley 750 with vacume
secondaries. Double pumpers use too much gas and the 750 Vac is the best all around in my books.

A 750 cfm might be a bit too large. I have a Holley Street Avenger 670 cfm on the ZZ4 in my '75 and it starts easily, provides excellent acceleration, and pulls strong through all 4 gears with a 3:36 rearend.

Do you know if the Avenger will fit under a stock 80 hood?

The Q-Jet you have [had?] provided up to 750 cfm flow, but only used what your particular engine needed. Why are you changing it?

Don't know if the clearance is the same between the '75 and '80. It would also depend on the height of the intake.

first thing dminished has to answer is if he has the CCC just like dosoctaves asked?
7T1,s question is good..why change it and that goes back to giving us some more information?there is alot more information required to answer correctly like engine size?gears?transmission?future plans?....but here is my opinion on

- If CCC still there and working and you still want a new carb then get ready to shell out some cash on dizz, carb, loc up converter switch.

- if CCC and its matching components are all gone on a stock 81 engine then get a 650 road demon and live happy ever after.
