I have the top adjusting screws all the way in causing the lamp to raise up, but the light beam at night is still pointing at the ground about 10 feet in front of the car. They also seam to point to the center of the road. Any ideas to correct for this would be great. I can't see the road to drive at night... Thanks Tim
Are you sure the lights are fully in the up position and locked in place? I would make sure that mechanically every works and is mounted correctly and there is no physical damage. There is an alignment procedure in the AIM or the service manual. I've used the procedure and it works well.
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I'm sure the light are all the way up, the top of the lamp bucket is touching the upper mounting tab. I agree something mechanically is not right. The car has stand halogen lamps that seem to be mounted correctly..
I don't think the OP has a problem with "system" If you look at and study the pic that Alan71 posted, you should be able to see if the headlight is pointed in the right direction, (to a certain extent) If you have to set the adjusting screws to their max and the light is still not pointed correctly, then I would suspect a defecrive lamp. Try swapping left and right lamps. See if the problem migrates.
Hi,
Also, since the 4 cups are different from each other... could them being in the wrong place affect the ability to aim the headlights properly?
Regards,
Alan
Wow, I thought this post was dead long ago. Thanks for the photo Alan71. To be honest with everyone the headlamp problem was put on the back burner while I was rebuilding the motor. Now that the motor is done I will get back to the lights. Cardo, the engine came out great it runs like a top and I can not believe the difference in power. Broke the budget by about $600.00 but it was worth it..Tim

Congrats on getting it running.
Good to read of your success with the rebuild - we need more of that here on the forum. I frequently read of first time rebuilders trying to do too much on the learning curve. Now that you've been there your next try at a performance rebuild will be soo much easier and you will know were to spend your hard earned $$$. 600 bucks is hardly even one visit to the dealership these days.
