I guess my biggest complaint is that they did not bother to communicate the problem at all. I had to contact them and THEN they tell me. A simple email would have sufficed and I would not have this negative attitude now. It is not an isolated incident with me. I had actually quit ordering and went to Jeg's, but Jeg's was out of the items I needed so I went to Summit. And, they have not answered my complaint yet.
I do realize it was a computer glitch, but that does not stop them from communicating. Thanks for listening and I like the fact that we Vette lovers have each other to lean on.
Hopefully, just a computer 'glitch'. There is a dreaded infection going around various companies in the U.S. ...it's called 'incompetence'. The practice of hiring cheaper and cheaper labor, [until they hire folks that can't find the end of their nose] is the culprit. The only way to 'cure' this infection is to quit buying products from that company. Hopefully the disease will be cured before the patient is dead.
Considering that their sales people are paid $10/hr, plus a small commission, I can't beleive that they get the good people that they do. I used to live close by the McDonough, GA store, and having plenty of industry experience (total of about 10 years between Year One, Mustangs Unlimited, and Barnett Performance), was expecting about twice that. That was a few years ago, when they first opened that location, but I doubt its gone up.
Personally, the last problem I had with Summit was about 10 years ago...I have ordered from them on a pretty regular basis since 1984. Fortunately, I can just walk in and buy my parts now.
Just got new HEI Distributor from them yesterday. They have been great to do business with. I did experience no tracking info due to there site having problems, but all is well....
I have placed many, many orders with Summit and I have to say that they are the best Internet Company out there to purchase from. I recently ordered a case of oil from them on a Monday morning and it was on my doorstep Tuesday! Returns are seamless and the most impressive part is that I have never had to call them for anything! I think they are a fabulous company with great prices and excellent customer service and delivery! I buy most of my automotive parts exclusively from Summit.
appreciate the time people take to reply. it gives some of us who rarely order an idea who to order from..... saves others the trouble of going thru the trouble
I love Summit. I did notice that I could not login for a couple of days and was surprised it was partially down that long. Glad it's back up so I can order more stuff!!!
Oh man I love Summit! I've always been satisfied with every order I ever made with them. They're 10 minutes away from the house I live at for school, so weekend trips there are always fun. Picked up a full steel cowl induction hood for my S10 for under $200 at the scratch and dent display!
I say give them a second chance. Even the best mess up sometimes.
I have never had an issue with Summit. I have been buying from them for 12 years. Fast accurate deliveries every time. Sorry for your problem. ( I hope this is not a new trend)

I live about 5 minutes from the Tallmadge store and just do walk in buys. I have never had a problem and they will take returns without a lot of hassle. Yes they have some good deals in the clearance area. If your traveling on I-76 thru Ohio stop in the store and look around there is a lot to see and check out the clearance area.

I received a package from Summit that contained a wrong waterpump.
After e-Mailing them, they promptly sent me a new one, even before any return of the wrong one. (overseas) That is what I call good customer service.
I placed my first order with them in 1984 I believe. a 2 BBL Holley carb for my '70 F100 to replace a junky Autolite carb. Best price in Car Craft that month. It had a bad needle and seat right out of the box. They paid for another needle and seat from the local parts store and when that didn't work sent me a new carb and a call tag for the old one-no questions asked. I have had nothing but good experiences with them. Give them another chance to make it right.
Just a heads up about Summit Racing. There is something going on and they are extremely lame. The last couple of orders I have placed have been screwed up. I asked for a tracking number for my latest order and two days later they tell me their ordering system was messed up. I told them they need to communicate and they sent me to some non-working link. This is totally not acceptable. Something is NOT working there and I will never order from them again. And I have ordered over $6k in the last year from them.
At the same time this thread was entered here on the CF, I had made a order with summit. Then later read this thread and was a little nervous about placing my order.
I placed my order at 10:00 AM 9-25-09, including a overnight charge. I received my order This morning 9-27-09 at 09:50. Considering I figured if i even saw the order today being it's the day after thanksgiving holiday that would be a bonus, and felt it would arrive more like saturday morning and that would be ok as for my plans, but when It was at my door this morning I went back to work on the car.
Aside from Computer Glitches which just happen with the economy the way it is manufacturers and suppliers are keeping minimum inventories on top of wait time for production.
Last few parts I tried to order had a twenty day wait to ship due to production delays.
So be aware that part you need might be a tad long getting to you.
It accually applies mainly to high dollar Items but I had delays on little items like cup holders AND Key fOB Covers real cheap items too.
I agree sometimes things happen. But, I am still sitting here without my parts and they should have been here last Tuesday. I have emailed them, called them and finally have just about given up. I did check to make sure they had the items when I called them and ordered with a live person. That is when they should have told me about the glitch ( that they already knew about) and I wouldn't have been ticked. I have yet to speak with anyone who gives a rat's behind. Yes, they have been OK in the past, but you are only as good as your last performance. And this ongoing performance is just not good. No offer or effort to rectify the situation so far. I have no less than 8 emails, 3 phone calls and 8 complaints to them and 4 responses from some robot it seems.

No, I received an email stating it had shipped. No shipment here and no tracking information and no delivery date. No feedback at all...which is the infuriating part. I keep getting these auto response with an incident number, but it never goes anywhere. So far 8 incident notices and I get the same double talk on the phone. They will "get back to me".
I think they have burned this bridge. Hey, if they work for you great. But, not for me. I appreciate the feedback from everyone. Sometimes we all need a sounding board that actually knows what we are talking about. I'll let you know if I ever get the parts. They know how to charge my credit card...they just don't know how to deliver the product.
Enough about all this. I will let you know when the mysterious packages arrive...if ever.
Summit uses big brown shipping...UPS shuts down Thanksgiving Day, black Friday, today and tomorrow for regular ground packages. You won't see anything until Monday at the soonest. No use getting your knickers in a twist until then.
The only issue I am starting to have with them is manufacturers band parts vs a "Summit replacment part" is not a direct match and you need to be aware of this. Your case seems to be unique as theyare one of the fastest parts in filling orders.
