Default Help! Window still not working

I replaced my power window motor, gears and linkage with new parts, nothing old in there anymore.
My other thread was http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...on-a-75-a.html

now I'm still having the same problem, the window won't go up all the way, it stops about 3" from the top still.
I've looked in there but can't see anything blocking the lift gears.

I'm wondering if the motor has a top and bottom in it, and that it was not installed at full top position on the gear.

I feel that I've missed something while putting it together.

Its an adjustment issue. You really can't screw it up on install. Only think to watch for is the spring needs to be install when the regulator is in the full up position.

Power the window up, does it get tight up against the molding on the way?

Easiest way to adjust is to get the door panel off. Get in the car Tools ready. Loosen off the bolts at the top of each track. Make sure the stops in the track are set about an inch down from the top. Power the window up while everyhting is loose. See how far it goes up. check the stops to see if they are allowing it to go up, readjust if needed. Its trial and error.

The regulator and spring unit came as 1 piece.
does the motor need to be at top gear position when installing?

The window itself is not installed yet, just all the gears,
I wanted to make sure everything worked right first before putting the window in..

all the parts inside are loose, to see if it was binding somewhere but didn't find anything.
I don't even have the stops in yet, and it doesn't even get near them.

i was going to say that your glass must be rubbing hard on your rubbers and that stops it but reading on i see you havent even put the glass in yet so that is strange. the motor should wizz up and down in a flash.

about the motor the gears dont need to be full up or full down when you put it in and also the motor has no top or bottom- it will just wind continuously if there is not stopping force on it. depending on how far up or down your window is that will be the gear/tooth location it will slide into when you install it. no tricks here.

if you have replaced the motor , spring and you have no stoppers then its hard to imagine whats stopping it. how about the 3 rails?..are they all cleaned and greased not forgetting the middle one that goes horizontal.

EDIT..i should have read your original post first. i see everyone has said check all your sliders and lube them already.some say not to lube them but i certainly do. maybe try and get some pics up lilmonster and someone might be able to spot something.

Are you sure you have it put together right? The on roller is on the regulator. the other roller is on the window. As you can see the front roller is on the window. the back roller is on the track. Also the bolts that replaced the rivits can not be too long.Example...

thats a great picture on how it works in there.

I don't have the glass in yet, so the front roller is not in this problem.
the back roller is working when the top rrail is in.
I'm going to remove the top bar and test,
if still not working, I'm going to take it out and bench test the unit.

Ok, I'm the idiot!
In my field, we call this a OM problem, Operator Malfunction!

It really helps if you remove the shipping lock.
It has a bolt thru it holding it together.

Honestly, it had that locktite stuff on the nut so i thought it part of the system.

I hope you got a laugh outa this, I did.

That bolt should of had a sticker on it saying 'Install Motor and then Remove Bolt' since the spring needs a 'preload' on it to help the motor push the window all the way up. Glad you posted a reply and that you finally got it to work.

There was probably a "Caution" note in the installation instructions; but if you're like me, you didn't read the instructions until you had some problems! Or, maybe, you didn't get any instructions because the vendor decided to save another nickel per unit by eliminating them!
