I put my Loarner Carb on last night. It runs great!
Problem however with my air cleaner. I have an Edelbrock chrome air cleaner.
The bottom piece presses down on the choke assembly and the throttle rod( I
think thats the name of the lever and rod on the drivers front of the carb) which messes up the idle and the choke.
I have no clearance under the hood for a spacer due to my tall intake manifold.
What can I do to modify my air cleaner without ruining the sealing capability of the air cleaner assembly?
I had a similar problem in my 74. I use a dropped base air cleaner which gives me pretty good hood clearance. In order to clear the linkage on the car I put a 1/2 inch air cleaner spacer between the carb top and air cleaner. You can get the spacers at most speed shops or through Summit. Mine came as part of a set of 3 spacers. If you want to check hood clearance go to my website and look in the Workshop under Restoration topics. Good Luck
I bought one of these drop bases off Ebay a few weeks ago for $35, and it's an exact replica of my stock '68 drop base that sells for $90 from the Vette vendors. I fits perfectly with my Q-jet.
