Here are couple before and after photo's of my dad's 76 I'm redoing for his surprise retirement gift. It's fully powder coated, and if the parts are not new they are rebuilt. i have 17 months to finish it. Today I will work on getting the rear calipers on and the half shafts. There was honestly no better feeling in the world the getting it off the jackstands and back on the worn out tires...
I live 600 miles from my parents so I only see them 4 to 5 times a year. So he doesn't know anything about the car. I bought it wrecked up front last year and it started off as just freshening up the original 60k mile motor, a new front clip, and body mounts. Well we (a very good friend) decided to do it right and lift the body off. He has always ben a corvette admirer but he could never afford one due to us kids. I wanted to give him something to say, "thanks" and remind him every time he fires it up that I will never forget the life he gave me. The only downfall is, I did alot of the powder coat in red since the car was that color, one day my fiance asked what his favorite color was, as my luck would have it, its yellow!!! I am hoping to have the motor rebuilt early 2010 and have it and the freshed th400 back in by February..
thanks, unfortunatly I fell at work and broke a couple ribs, the worst part is I can't work on it. My parents head down this way for Christmas and I'm debating showing my Dad it... Just as a hey look what I'm working on. It sits in my garage and he goes through my garage and hides my tools when he comes and visits just to pay me back for when I was a kid. I guess I will just hide the garage keys and cover everything with some tarps

tell him you bought an import and you are so ashamed that you covered it up while he is there.
