C3 Age Data Compiled
I have every post from the beginning till my post in the thread.
I took the data and parsed it out into two histograms. One with the current age of everyone that posted as of today (or close enough to it) and then another with the age that the person posted that they own a vette.
It would be neat to start a new thread asking the questions:
How old where you when you purchased your vette? What year was it? How long did you keep it?
Since we really only reliably have data for the person's age and whether or not they currently own a vette I left it at that.
For the Current Age of everyone posted I removed people that had posted more than once and "aged" them to today's date. For the Age of posted I left everyone's duplicate posts since I considered the 2002, 2004, and 2009 sufficient time gaps to consider each year a snap shot in time at each point when the thread was resurrected.
I then decided to go ahead and show these snap shots per the year of the post. Each "snap shot" or year grouping is everyone's current age of the year that they posted on the thread.

Any questions about what I did just let me know. I think its interesting that the snap shots tend to show an aging trend of owners. Not sure if this is because younger generations are finding it harder to find the funds to purchase a C3, indicating that prices are appreciating, or their tastes are changing. Just some thoughts.
What does the data tell you?
I think it's interesting that the data you've compiled 'looks' very much like the range of people you see with cars at Corvette shows.
I think in the 60s and 70s the cars WERE more affordable to the average guy who wanted one badly enough. The cars cost what many people were earning in a year, and could thus pay one off in 2 or 3 years. Now I think the new Corvettes cost a lot more than what many fellows who would like to have one earn in a year... so it's more of a financial stretch for a longer period of time. Thus the new cars are going to older people with higher earning power.
Thanks for your effort!
Regards,
Alan

It tells me there a lot on happy Corvette owners. The lines on a C-3 just look so good and you can buy one at any price. Bless those people can afford a NCRS correct car but for me I drive my car everywhere every day (if it's not raining). All C-3 are like a one man 'Car Show' Take a poor condition Vette for gas and tell me you don't get a bunch of comments and questions! Take a nice one and be prepared to pop the hood.
Merry Christmas, Pete.
The Forum membership is a very small segment of the Corvette ownership universe, and additionally, not all members include their age.
What is it you are actually trying to determine and why?
PS They love my vette.

There was a lot of posts on the average age that were just sitting there. No one had compiled the numbers yet so I did. Why is your comment relevant? What are you trying to accomplish??
I pointed out the limitations and asked others to post what they saw in the data. Never once did I say this held any answers. Statistics is technically never an absolute answer.
Thank you, Kipring, for compiling and posting this information.

The samples range from 60 to 276, which is pretty small, considering how many C3's there are still in existence today.
Didn't mean to offend, I just don't think this tells much, or is representative of anything except some random posts.
