14 months and counting

Chassis is done and the body will be mounted soon. I pulled the fresh M-20 and installed a new Keisler TKO600RR a few weeks ago - I decided if a 5 speed was gonna happen it may as well be now while the body is off the frame.
My '73 RS Camaro has been keeping me busy and providing entertainment while the vette has been in pieces
Kudos to Mike Dyer - aka tracdogg - he has been a huge help throughout the entire build. You guys are great, looking forward to hangin out again soon and putting the vette thru the paces.
Merry Christmas to everyone,
Ed

Thanks for the picture.
14 months and counting isn't very much for a really thourough job, especially if you have other things going on.
The silver looks terriffic!
Merry Chistmas.

Alan
your kind words of encouragement are always appreciated.
You are right about the time frame and I am fortunate in that I am not doing any body or paint work.
I am hoping to have the car done by mid March.
Take care, Ed

Looks like you are building one nice ride. Keep up the good work.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

Working on getting the Pypes 2.5in stainless exhaust fitted

Not real happy with the way the parking brake cable rides over the X pipe - talked with tech support at Pypes and they are aware of this poor design. Tech said no other place to put the X and it would take "a 100,000 miles of driving to wear thru the pipe"
Lot of things left to do this week.
Thanks for the positive comments,
Ed
If you made the white nylon wheel/pulley the brake cable rides on SMALLER would it change the angle enough to lift the cable up off the exhaust pipe? I can't quite tell from the picture.
Nice looking chassis and running gear.

Alan

Looking at your body mounts gave me a thought to pass on to ya. I recently replaced my body mounts and found the brand new rears all busted up from just the normal 45 ft-lbs torque. Had to replace the rears again. Having used poly mounts in my GTO i said never again - too harsh ride on the road. But if was to do the vette body mounts again i would try using poly mounts in the front (#1) and rear (#4) where they see the most road exposure and probably contribute less to the ride feel while add to the handling. And install the rubber on the inside mounts (#2 & #3) and use less torque to provide more squish under the seats and affect the handling less.
Just an idea to pass on u might want to consider,

Thanks Alan,
I was thinking of either using a smaller diameter wheel or leaving it as is and using some type of barrier to keep the cable from rubbing thru the pipe.

Cardo,
appreciate the nice comments.
I thought about going with the later model rubber body mounts but I was concerned about having the body sit too high on the frame. Didn't want to go with that 4x4 look

In the end I decided on the stock solid '69 mounts and its too late to change now. All the mounts are already shimmed - the body was re-assembled on the frame prior to paint and all the gaps set correct. Then it was repulled for paint.
At this point I'm real anxious to get it back together - hoping to be enjoying the car in the Spring when nice weather returns to Dallas.

That is an under statement. This will be a great looking car when you are finished.
I love the color of the car, great choice.
Riggs.
It looks like you're making progress and that what matters when you start to think it's taking too long.
The detailed part always takes extra time, and the NICER the car is the LONGER they take to put back together.
Please keep the updates coming.

Alan
At this point no freckin idea - the car does not look much different than the last photos I posted above.
Long story short - My bill at the body shop is about 90% paid and I am having a hard time motivating the shop owner to finish my car. He was paid to disassembe/reassemble as part of the paint process. He keeps accepting new jobs to keep his cash flow positive and I keep getting pushed aside.
I have considering taking my car as it sits and finishing it at home myself but I'd like to get what I have already paid for.
It sucks - I am missing prime season right now. Not to mention this project has taken twice as long as necessary.
I have not seen the car in 2 weeks - I plan to go later this week to check progress. My patience has just about run out
Hope to meet up with some of the local guys soon, Ed
