Default Low fuel light

What triggers this. I am working on Davids 77 and the low fuel light is always on. It has 3/4 tank of gas. Gas gauge is working fine. Obviously a grounding problem. Console or tank.

It's probably a bad low fuel warning module that attaches to the back of the instrument printed circuit card. I dont know a whole lot about them except I have heard they are not reproduced and 77 was a one year only part. Occasionally I have seen them on ebay. Probably easiest to remove the module and just put a dummy socket in the hole to cover u the low fuel red light

very possible. Try disconnecting the wire to the sensor, to see if light goes out. If so that is probably it. If not you might have a short or bad ground somewhere., or maybe the wrong cluster bulb at that point.

Its fairly common for a transistor to fail causing the light to come on when the tank is not close to empty. The transistor is easily replaced.

Makes sense to me. David redid the instruments last year. I have had the dash apart for other things and probably just put in a bulb for that socket. There is no module on the back of this gauge cluster. I think I'll just pull the bulb. Thanks guys.

Ernie I did send you an email on the temp gauge.

Try M&H Electric. They make a replacement, wire-in module that is adjustable to any sending unit and fuel level. You basically replace what you have with this, put some number of gallons of gas in it, adjust until the light comes on and you're done! Easy and clean. Their part number is 500274 and will run you about $60.

Between the turbine combustion section temp low light and the afterburner engaged indicator. The low fuel light means the turbine combustion section is to follow on next but then the afterburner will never come on.
