Was it much of a job to get at the old one? On my 76 it hasn't been working.I had the tilt-tele rebuilt by a reputible rebuilder a few years ago and since then it never worked. My anti-theft is not working either and I think that may have something to do with this also.Maybe they left out the switch or something.lectric limited is a good company and has correct parts.Maybe Jim Shay will chime in on this for you.He knows alll about that stuff.Good luck.
The part you purchases is not the correct switch for your column. 7811093 was the original GM part number. It was brought to my attention about three months ago that one vendor has these listed wrong on their site.
Actually, I did purchase it from you guys. It's the same part number that's on the bag Hopefully, I have the wrong part number.
It's not hard to do, but more of a pain with all the parts. If you have to do the signal switch with the harness, then I think it would be more difficult. Plus, you need a steering wheel puller and I had to rummage thru my Dad's toolbox for it.
I looked at lectric limited, and I didn't see the key buzzer switch anywhere.
Ok.. Opps is right! Maybe it was boxed wrong.. I'm not sure.
Give Tommy or Norm a call tomorrow and we'll get the right one on the way to you. 800-588-3883. I'll double check the listed part and the number we have associated with it.
Just hang on to the wrong one until I get you the right on to you. In the box, will be a mailing label for you to mail the wrong one back to you!

I bought one as well in the spring and received the short switch which will not work in my '73 T/T. Of course the cost of shipping it back makes that impractical. So I paid for a new switch and shipping and am stuck with it.
I was able to find only one source for the longer switch and I spent a long time looking. I did find one source who claimed to have one but knowing they are hard to find was gouging really badly on the price making it not a practical option.
I followed Jim Shea's instructions on how to check out your buzzer switch and it turned out that the switch was o.k. and the long contact tabs were not bent and positioned correctly to make contact in the mating surface in the column. So with some bend, install, check continuity, bend a little more, check contenuity, etc I got it to work o.k. You might also want to check to see that when you insert the key it pushes on the tab on the switch that makes the connection.
The left switch is what came out of my '73 T/T. The right switch is what I received.
The 1969-76 T&T key buzzer switch has only recently (the last year or so) been reproduced. For many years NOS (new old stock) was the only way to obtain a replacement. I know that most of the major suppliers are now listing it as again being available.
You were shipped the wrong part or you just ordered the wrong part number. You do need the long switch for the T&T column. The 1969-79 standard (non-adjustable) column switch won't work. The 1977-82 T&T switch won't work.
BTW, the long contact arms touch two spots on the underside of the turn signal switch. Whether or not you need to adjust them, I really don't know.
The new switch includes the metal retainer and it is clear-ish plastic as were the originals. I have pasted a picture below, but I had to leave the back ground dark to see the darn thing.
I'm sorry for the problem, we thought we had this fixed a month ago! I am 100 percent positive this is the correct switch! It has been compared to an original and installed in a column.
The over-all length of the plastic portion of the switch is 2 3/16"
