Getting ready to tackle bodywork on my 1971 roadster project car. Have read info on windshield trim removal, in order to inspect how much damage windshield frame has suffered. Checked my local parts stores(Autozone, Advanced) and nobody seems to know about the tool needed to free the hidden clips behind the stainless trim. Where is the best place to get the correct tool for the C-3 trim. Any info is appreciated.
if you're refering to the top trim piece, it slides off in an upward direction. use a chisel resting on a wide, thin piece of wood(such as a square of 1/4" plywood to distribute the force) and work it off, the clips are probably rusty, so some pb blaster might help.
My trim fit tight against the glass so it was tough getting the clips off. I was not saving my glass so i could be a little rougher with it.
If you are keeping your glass, go slow, it is easy to crack.
Hi WW,
I believe you'll find the a-pillar trim needs to come off first. The clips are holding the long thin piece of ss trim. I used a PLASTIC putty knife to very carefully start lifting that ss trim from each end by sliding the blade between the glass and the lip on the ss trim, and working the trim out of the clips. CAREFULLY!

Alan
