I know it is popular to install c5 seats in a c3 vette. My question is will the c5 seats make you sit higher or more forward than the stock seat. I am 6'- 235lbs I like sitting as low as I can. Thank you for the reponse.
You won't sit further forward but depending on how you mount the seat will determine headroom. I put a set in a 68 ragtop and made mounts patterned after how Craig (Glassman 74) made his. I made the mounts lower than his and what's amazing is the power side drivers seat sits lower than the manual track passenger side seat.
The C-5 seats are extremely comfortable and kind of wrap around you. If you have a coupe how you mount the seats will determine hom much headroom you have. If you're the only driver and will not be adjusting the seat you can eliminate the seat tracks and make straps that attach directly to the C-5 seat frames then to the floor pan.
I have done this install on my '77 with no problems. I am 6'3'' 220lbs and an extra inch of room would be nice for me. I used c3 tracks and some small brackets to mount the seat to the c3 tracks and the tracks to the floor. This added a lot of extra height and I would recommend against it if head space is a concern. I will be looking into making some brackets that bolt the seat directly to the floor since I really dont use the adjustable tracks. (plus its another reason my girlfriend can't drive it haha) Overall, this was an awesome improvement over the stock seat, and IMHO they look right at home...
I've installed C5 seats in my car and found the install to
be super easy. I used the 74 tracks and mounted them
on the bottom of the C5 seats using the same original
spacing between the tracks, centered on the bottom of
the seat. I drilled and taped the seat bottoms, mounting
the front on a one inch spacer and the rear directly to
the seat frame to give the seats a comfortable angle.
The seats do set higher than the 74 seats did and at first
it feels like they are lot higher but you soon get use to it
and find that they work out OK, By the way I am 6' 1'' and
220 lbs and find this mod to be one of the best.
The C5 seats do make driving the car more enjoyable
because I don't slide around in the seat any more when
running hard through a corners, This is a great upgrade.

Riggs.
Hey Riggs....I did basically the same thing to mount my C5 seats in my 73 coupe...no spacers in front though...and the recline mechanism and tilt forward work great too WRW
I made brackets and bolted directly to the floor on my 68. You will set higher, and closer than stock C3 seats. I changed to a smaller steering wheel to make getting in easier. Great upgrade though-worth the work.
