I need to lift up my big block to change motor mounts. Can you jack from the oil pan?? If so, the front of the pan?? Looks like a lot of weight for this. I can't get a cherry picker in where is garaged. Any experience here??

It is a lot of weight (over 600#) and IMCO, you stand too great a chance of wrecking your pan, and then where are you? I know it's not what you were looking to hear, but if you can't bring the picker to the car, I'd take the car to the picker.
I replaced my engine mounts recently - but I did one side at a time, and yes I jacked the engine under the oil pan, but used a a 4" x 2" piece of timber to spread the load - it only needs to move a small amount!
Hi Kim,
I'd think you could use the jack with a tall 2x4 block that runs along the side of the pan to the flange of the block that the pan bolts to. Protect the lip on the pan so that the 2x4 doesn't bend it.
One side at a time?

Alan

That's the way I did it.
Make sure your fan doesn't hit the shroud....
If I had a cherry picker available on site I would go the safe route and use that instead. This would save you from having to buy a whole new oil pan if you mess the oil pan up when jacking it.

Trans mount?
U want to unbolt the trans mount too. I recall the trans will hit the tunnel at full lift. Not much room on my sb but they came out. Did my sb with a bottle jack and 4"x4" wood piece under the oil pan too.
