If it started making noise after you adjusted the valves...then you didn't adjust the valves correctly. Not in any way trying to be a smart*zz, but as noted above the first question a mechanic asks is "what's changed?"

A GM dealer had the car for a week and a half to adjust the valves. As time goes on the lifters are noisier. They won't do anything about it saying the cam is the problem. Another mechanic that works on classic and exotic cars said the adjustment is to loose. That makes sense to me. Thanks guys By the way I ahve not seen any smart buts on here. You are all a bunch of good people with real life experiences. We all have something to gain and give. Personal opinion

Good to hear you're on the path to resolution.
Sadly, there are few line mechanics around any more that know how to take care of a GEN I (or even GEN II). As a generalization it's not always true...but I've found it to be VERY common these days.
