I replaced my starter last week. It's been fine until today. It would make a grinding noise when I tried to start it. After about 5 tries (20 to 30 seconds apart) it started fine. Any ideas?

Sounds like the bolts may have backed themselves out a bit, or you might have a shimming issue. Kind of weird that it waited 5 days to start doing that, and that's what also makes me think its the bolts that are doing that. Let us know what you find out.
Not sure what kind of starter you used, but did you use bolts designed for a starter? When I switched to a mini-starter I needed to get new bolts from GM.
Did you check the starter pionon gear clearance when you installed it ?
Did you use actual starter bolts, to prevent the starter from shifting ?
did you intall the orginal brace for the starter ?

Sounds like a shimming problem....or bolt issue.....put some locktite on the bolts and check the clearance I had the same issue when i bought my car...the guy that had it before didnt do anything about it...the starter whinned really bad and i shimmed it out a bit and it fixed the problem
