Default What is this part?

Can someone please identify this unplugged cable under my hood? Not sure what it is or what it does. It is on the passenger side right by the windshield.

A/C blower motor resistors. Controls speed of motor by varying ohms of resistance. Should be no reason for being disconnected unless coils are broken or shorted to each other. mds...

The blower only blows high and low, no settings in-between. Could this be why my mechanic unplugged it?

High speed is controled by a seperate relay. Low speed runs anytime ignition switched on. This part is what controls speeds between low and high. You still need it to control fan speeds on heat. Pull it out inspect coils if none broken or shorted to each other plug it in and see if fan operates on all speeds. If broken replace, if shorted, [coils are touching each other] seperate coils then try it. I do not of any down side to doing this since blower motor is running on high/low. mds...

Tracye,

Pull the other bolt out of this and remove it from the car. Then inspect it for damaged coil.

Ok.. I'm not at home and on a laptop so I don't have a schematic.. but you need to check the wires that connect to this resistor... Oh, what year is this car too! When I do get home I'll take a look again.
