Ricers, I'm sure, love working on their cars and bench racing as much as anyone in this forum, but I still can't stand 'em. I'm sick of having to leave them in my dust and I am too stubborn to just let them rice on by!! What do you do with them???
just ignore them....unless there is room to run....then a good dusting is in order...in traffic which is 95% of the time....just ain't worth it....
I post of high speed blasts, but they are not all that often, maybe just one a month...if that....
I think my opinion of them has changed recently. I still WANT to hate them, but for some reason, I find myself respecting the fast ones. After all, it's a hot-rod like any other really, and if it can run 9sec quarters, then more power to them.
What I still do hate, is the ricers that ARENT fast, and only (arguably) look fast with stickers and fart pipes. They should be dusted at every opportunity.

I just ignore them, I dont even dust them off unless they are willing to pay for the gas to do it - otherwise its a complete waste of my time
To me they are hot rodders just like me. They enjoy working on cars just as much as I do if not more. There are groups that regularly hold street races and alot of them are in the low 12's and some alot better. Just because they don't start out with 2 tons of metal and mega cubic inches doesn't make them inferior to us. Alot of money is spent in making these engines go. I will run them for fun but will not just blow them off to embarrass them. I will keep it close and sometimes loose just for fun.
Both them and I know they are no match so why not have fun. I teach alot of them and like the type. One very smart student the other day said he didn't know corvettes could handle. I know mine doesn't.

 Right on Norval.
There are obnoxious ricers, just as their are obnoxious Vette owners (there's a post on here recently on some people not deserving Vettes). Many ricers look at my Eclipse and Vette and immediately start checking out the Vette. At least they are into cars and understand the $ that we all spend on them. :)

You left off the 4 foot high wing that wobbles as they drive.... :D
And btw any decisions on those seats yet? ;)
I tried to feed a couple to my dogs but they wouldn't bite
There are two classes of ricers. The sticker and paint ones I ignore or maybe laugh at. They are the ones who will go out and spend $60 on a billet oil filler cap and not change plugs or oil in less than 50k miles.
The ones who really do try something mechanical, I at least give a little credit to. Notice I said mechanical, bolting a NOS system on and changing a chip is a sticker that takes a wrench IMHO.
And remember, in the rice world, red stickers= speed, yellow stickers=more speed, so go yellow!
A couple months ago, I was driving my Lincoln LS (5 speed, thank god they brought that back) and pulled up at a light next to a 240sx with the full fart pipe, aluminum wing :U and japanese stickers down the side, and dusted him out of the stoplight with the Lincon.. I chirped em shifting into second ;) poor little ricer never had a chance.. by 60mph, I was about 2 car lengths ahead of him. Pity he didn't have his girlfriend in the car, would have made it funnier...
I must be living in a twilight zone neighborhood, most of the ricers around here are nice and respect any hotrod no matter the make. The major PIA's around here are the pickups with glasspacks, what is it about a set of glasspacks that makes people think they're John Force or Big 'E'? I wouldn't mind sooo much if they were nice trucks, but the majority have so much rust all the body panels are floppin' in the breeze like those fake wings on the ricers!
Oh well, thanks for letting me vent, I guess they come in all shapes and sizes.
I used to drive a red Honda DelSoL, (if anyone has seen it its a girls car, no BS) Anyway, i bought the car to do one thing, make domestic muscle car owners shut their fing mouths. And, after over 2 years of working my honda, i could safely say that i was hanging with the big boys. The reason i own a vette: Looks, heritage, awe of chevy's progress in tuning the 350, to nam ea few. Ricers, as i got used to being called, are mostly 16sec trash boxs, from my expeirnce, id say only 10% can run better then a 14 sec slip. One of the underlying reasons i switched sides was the sterotype was getting out of control, I got no respect, now in a slower car (my c5) i get 100% more R-E-S-P-E-C-T. But i think i am not going anywhere soon, the all aroundness of the corvette is mind blowing. It can be a straight line racer or a auto-x champ, I say Vette.
I've seen a couple, spent some $$ and aren't those noisy POS that some punk thinks he has a mini-race car. I got to give them credit, to crank the HP out of a 4cyl with really nice workmanship, to me aren't the jerks. I agree their hot rodders, just a little different variety. If I get a jerky one behind my 4WD chevy truck, I just drive slower., like the old man routine, really ticks them off, and them I get that brrrrrraaaahhhhhhh and hope a black and white is close by. One day I get to see them with the blue light special...

Dittos with Mrvette, I have stopped with a ricer at a traffic light and offered to set up a race him at a local drag facility for a couple of bills. He chicken out ! You have to give them some credit, they are keeping the economy going with all the after market stuff they're buying.
Dan
Just give them the thumbs up and continue on your business....
Heck, I actually enjoy them, remeinds me of me 35 years ago......
I'm not sure if these qualify as Ricers, but I also enjoy these 60's Impala's and similar cars that have all the hydrolic's on them, they jump up and down standing still.
and.....i'll go hide after I say this..... but just because we drive Vette's, why are we supposed to be the fastest
If you don't even acknowledge them, they don't exist. Right? The worst thing you can do to an annoying person or thing is to ignore.

Or take my approach. My philosophy is that some people exist purely for my entertainment (everyone has a purpose in life, right?). So I acknowledge their attempts at humoring me and I laugh.
thats whats left of them after I idle next to them for more than 2 seconds...
the tape they use can't withstand the earth-a-rumbling - must not be 3M ! :chevy
Talk to them. Some of them are just as interested in old cars as they are rice cars. I have autocrossed with a local club comprised mostly of Mustangs and Rice they are ecstatic when it comes to loud flashy american cars!
Well.... I too have mixed feelings about Ricers these days. There's no doubt that I can't stand those that are just loaded with stickers and a huge fart can. If I remember correctly, I believe that those stickers add about 25 HP each.  :smash: You know the ones I'm talking about... they're about as fast as my old ten-speed bicycle and have that huge annoying spoiler that looks like a handle for King Kong. I do however respect those that are modified to blow away most cars on the road. My '81 is very stock and doesn't have much go, so I don't race these guys for the mere fact that if they beat me legitimately, I know they'll be braggin about it to their friends later. I don't want to give them that kind of fuel, but I can respect someone who just enjoys working on their car. Just one thing... those stickers have to go.
