the car is at the paintshop (7 months so far) and i'm trying to think of stuff i need to do soon when it gets back. one little project is to get the fan and clutch back on the engine. is it possible to get these back in place without moving the radiator support or shroud? i really dont want to mess with these. the car is a 69 with 427. thanks
Yes. You just need to have the studs put in the water pump flange first and mount the pump pulley and fan belt in place over them. Then wiggle the fan/clutch assembly into its 'home' [being careful not to nick the radiator] and onto the studs. Put on the nuts and torque them and you're done. [this assumes that the belts are still on the pulleys]
