I am replacing some body mounts. Is there a torque spec or procedure to tightening them or just snug em down till they bulge slightly?
Also, not really a tech question but has anyone found a good grade (not poly) body mount. I have replaced mine twice in 4 years (same vendor). Again they are cracked & spider webbed. Heck they look 25 yrs old.
Hi cbc3,
Have you tried Corvette Rubber in Michigan? People speak pretty highly of their products.

Alan
No I havent tried them, now that you mention it I have heard good things of them. I dont know why I didnt relate them with the mounts? I will give them a call on Monday. Thanks for the tip

Try mixing rubber and poly mounts.
Recently replaced mine and the 2 rear mounts split on my too. Used 45ft-lbs also. I didn't tighten the replacement as much the last time. And now that its done i think i would have used poly mounts on the front and rear mounts and stayed with rubber on the inside mounts #2 & #3. That should make the mounts much more rigid for handling and nearly unbreakable while the inner mounts would still give some squish for a softer ride.
