Or you can watch this video. The 1973 and newer motors test out the same way. Power to the yellow center wire, ground the outers for speeds. You must power up the red wire coming out of the can too!
The video was great. Tested the motor and its was good. So at that point I started testing voltage up to the motor. This is where I found the Ground wire was no good. I grounded the motor and it started right up. So my question is... Should I just leave my temp ground or should I rerun the original ground? That seems like a lot of work since its all wrapped up. Does anyone know where the original ground runs too?
The ground you are speaking of and as Pete said runs to the bell housing.. But this same ground is also in the blower motor circuit.. so you should make sure that the blower motor is working fine too! If you are having problems with your blower motor..... Well... you just may have figured two problems out for the price of one!

This is great news because I DO have a blower motor that is not working. Thanks for the info guys. I guess when the motor was replaced this just didn't get hooked back up. Well that is what I am hoping for anyway.

Ernie you are a star! Pretty sure I have blower issues and am sure the PO hooked the black wire up to the starter as it is hot instead of ground! IIRC there is a hot black at the starter...perhaps the PO just got confused!
