I was looking to get a rebuild kit from gear zone, so I figures I would get some numbers of the Muncie. I am at a loss to explain what I found. The numbers I found appear to be from 1970 in my 1969 according to the books I have. Plus isn't there a digit at the end of the code to say what type of Muncie it is (A,B,C)? I saw no codes. I think the tranny has been replaced.:mad Let me know what you think:
So does that say this tranny was replaced at some point in its life? I am under the assumption that the stamp should match the year of the car, so I should have seen a P9 number instead of a P0. Also I was told it was a M21. How can I tell.

The 3885010 case would not have been original to a 69. The original case should be 3925660.
The date code for 66 and prior was P=Muncie and 4 number indicating month and day. No designation for year.
The date code for 67 and up was P=Muncie, number indicating year, letter indicating month, and 2 numbers indicating day. Something like P9C15 would indicat a Muncie built in 69,March,15.
If you are doing a rebuiild and have the sidecover off, count the teeth on the input shaft. 21 or 24 teeth will be and M-20, 26 teeth will be an M-21. (Note: this is tooth count, not spline count)
