Default C5 seats question...

Done the search....

General consensus is use the original C3 tracks and fabricate a mount to connect the C5 seats to the C3 tracks???

Have I got this correct?? Reason..I can buy the C5 seats with or without the C5 tracks...

Thanks,
Rob

I used the C3 tracks and drilled the C5 seats to match the C3 track mounts. It is very tight and tough to get the nut and bolt in there but it all worked and fit in correctly. Some have done it other ways but this is how I chose to do it.

Gordon,

Did you have to fabricate anything, or did you bolt the C5 seats directly to the C3 tracks (after drilling the correct holes)?

Thanks

Here is how I did it.

The passenger seat would apply to the earlier sharks as the driver side of the later sharks has the floor lowered to compensate for the electric seats.

Thanks Brent. Mine should be very simple as I have a 72 with no power seat option...

No fabrication. Just drilled the proper location holes and mounted the tracks. Like I said there are 2 corners that are real difficult to get to. Small fingers help. I figured it was a once and done so a little patience with this worked well.

Drivers side has a 5 point harness and passenger side has the Camaro 3 point belts. Here are some pictures when I had the 5 point on both sides. My son was very uncomfortable with the 5 point belts. I swapped back in the 3 point Camaro belts since. I likethe 5 point it really holds you in the seat. Overkill for a DD or street car but it holds my butt secure in the autoX.

Fitting the C5 seats in, is really simple. I used the same lay out as the old C3 seats so that the seats would bolt right back in the same original holes in the floor. To make things a lot easier and not take a chance to mess up the leather I pulled the bottom seat cover and seat foam off to drill the seat bottoms to match the C3 lay out, this also makes it easier to bolt the tracks on. There is barley enough room to mount the tracks on the bottom in the C3's bolt pattern, it is close to the edge of the seat but works well. Also you may want to install a one inch spacer in the front to give the seats a better angle. Using the C3 tracks will allow you to still use the slide adjustment.

For my seat belts I still use the C3's belts but do plan to upgrade them latter.

Over all this is a great up grade.

Riggs.
