So I finally got my interior back in, sans the door panels which I'm going to keep off till I install my power door lock actuators. But here it is. Good news, the console lifts out without removing the seats, by just removing 4 scews on the side. My power window switch wasn't working so I had to pull it out.
This is exactly what I want to do with mine. I have considered also doing the center instrument bezel. I saw some nice glass work on a vette that's on Ebay right now, under 81 corvettes. Really sweet work. Check out the speakers this guy made for this car.
I'm curious, did you have all the center console pieces in place when you made this? You must have, because it butts up to the center bezel nicely.
I've also considered making one with a padded armrest/compartment to carry my pistol. Don't leave home without it.
Right now, my 81 is naked inside! All the dash is removed, and all that remains is the spaghetti wiring Bubba left for me to sort out. Good news is I have my wife's 81 to make a mold from. Plus, next week I take delivery of another 81 that has been restored. I just love these cars!!!!!
