I need a set or tires for my 1982 CE so I ordered a set of 255/60R15 Goodyear Eagle GT II from Tirerack quite sometime ago. Seems they continuously get backordered. Right now they are telling me maybe 2 months more wait. I've searched the internet, and no one seems to have them, not even my local tire stores. Anyone know where to get a set? Or better yet, what tires are you all using. Looks like Tirerack has BFgoodrich Radial T/A (rated a 7) and Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 (rated a 8.1), both in stock. Thoughts?
Thanks for the heads up, but I already spoke to Summit, they are expecting a shipment on 4/1 also (which I suspect will change). But Tirerack was expecting theirs in early April too, but that changed today to the maybe 2 month off. I'm thinking maybe the Firestones will work. They have good specs & reviews.
Just bought a set last Saturday and they're on sale all this month.
Buy 3 get 1 free. Had to order them from my local Firestone and they came in the next day.
At some point in your life you might need to jump up to the wider selection of quality tires in the 17 inch size. I have my 4 original rims and some tires in good shape all stored away in black plastic bags in a cool dry place.

The only tires we have for our 15" wheels are utter garbage. Would you rather be shot in the left foot, or the right foot?
I have the BFG's in 255-60/15 and I'm happy with them. Of course I haven't tried the Firestones or the Goodyears, so I can't compare them. The BFG's have been on my car since shortly after I bought it about 12 years ago. I have been thinking about replacing them just because of their age. I might try something different, but I would't have a problem with putting them on again.
Well, SanDiegoPaul makes the above 'claim' because....well, he's from Kaliforneeaa...and they're all a big bunch smarter than the rest of us. Hey, Paul... tell us what you really think of BFG tires.
By the way, Paul... what gas do you use? just so that I can bi+ch about how crummy it is....
Last night was my first ride with new Goodrich TA 's I have always used these tires on that car and love them, I tried un successfully to get Goodyears throught tire rack and got the same "on back order" Story so I bought TA's locally and love them! Ron
I to am having a hard time finding tires. The BFG's are back ordered in my part of the country. These are the tires I want to run, I don't like the look of the Firestone or the Goodyear. If Firestone still had the SS radial I would be interested but not Firehawk. Eagle GT II was not correct fort the time period in my opinion. Al

If your tires are 12 years old do yourself a favor and get rid of them. The shelf life of tires is probably no more than 10 years. They gradually dry up and become hard but it occurs so slowly you dont realize it until your replace them with a new set. I had a set of BFG's for 15 years and replaced them because of the age and I couldnt believe the difference in ride and handling with the new set.
You gotta be kiddin' me! With all due respect that tire is absolute junk.
I'm beginning to wonder the same also. I'm on my 3rd set of B.F. T/A s now over the years. I absoutely love the looks of them but I may be switching to the Firestones. My local frontend shop recently balanced my tires because I picked up some vibrations. He is not impressed with the recent T/A's. While spinning them on his machine, he was showing me that the belts had shifted on mine. So my dilemma is did I get a bad set of T/A's, give B.F. another try or go with the Firestones which generally get a good review here on CF.
