Ok lets talk sealing threads on various fittings and what to use...
Fuel lines??
Transmission cooler lines??
Water fittings?? (intake,water pump etc.)
Plumbers tape on any? Liquid sealer??
Fuel lines shouldn't need sealant. Most if not all on these cars are "inverted flare" fittings and don't seal on the threads, they seal on the inner seat of the flare. The threads simply help drive the seat onto the sealing surface. You could use teflon tape, because that's just a thread lubricant, not a sealant, but I wouldn't. Fuel will eat thread sealant anyway, or worse go into the carb.
Transmission cooler lines are probably the same type fittings, although I have a 4 speed, so I'm not sure.
Your water fittings can be sealed with Loctite PST #567. It works on both carbon and stainless steel and has a 400 degree temp. rating. Make sure the fittings are clean, use Primer N #7649 or some type of cleaner.
Good Luck!
Fuel lines: fuel lines should have sefl-sealing type fittings that are in good condition. If a fuel line fitting doesn't seal, you need to change it.
Tranny lines: you can use Teflon tape on pipe thread connections [if you want], but sealant made for hydraulic connections would be better.
Water lines: Teflon tape or plumber's sealant.
Note: Teflon tape is 'slippery'. Unless a fitting does not have a tendency [or the ability] to back out of the mating part, it may not be the best item to use. Other sealants tend to help hold the pieces together; teflon 'assists' them in working apart.
Well take for instance an aftermarket fuel pump. The two fittings on the pump itself just screw right in, theres no flare on those. Should i seal those with something?
If you use teflon tape on fine pipe threads [in a fuel system], just make sure to leave the end two threads free of teflon so you can't get any loose bits of tape into the fuel system (plugs up filter or can stick needle valve open).
