Default Heater Hose Connection Question

I just replaced all the coolant hoses on my bb. The heater hoses fit the heater core and expansion tank very well. I cant say the same for the block connections. The hose fittings were larger than the others, and while I was able to get the hoses on (with considerable difficulty), I am concerned with the stretch on the rubber. Is this the factory setup, or am I seeing more handiwork from a prior owner?

As far as I know, the BB uses the same size hoses as the SB, 5/8 and 3/4. Did you measure the fittings coming out of the block and waterpump? Since they are both screw in parts, it's possible they could have been changed. More likely just a tight fit and you will be fine.

Ok, I am close to replacing the same on a SB, I notice that the hose off the manifold seems to be 3/4 but looks like a 5/8 fitting. can you tell me which hoses sections are 3/4 and which are 5/8? Thanks,

On a BB, the hose off the manifold (hot) is 3/4 and the hose connecting to the water pump (cold/return) is 5/8.

I suspect I have a 3/4" fitting at the water pump. You can see the bulge in the hose to go on the fitting.
