I guess we're trying to put a little something together. I don't know the exact date/time/location, but we're thinking begining of april, on emrald isle. I have suggested Easter weekend at indian beach. It's a big public parking lot, and there will be a good sized audiance of "shoobies"(read: tourists). I also suggested meeting somewhere common(like jacksonville mall) or something, then parading over there. It'd be a nice cruise through swansboro(swansboro is the best place to live. But Im biased). Or we could go the long way through new burn/morehead. I don't know. Its just an idea. True-duels might be better to organize something like this, expecally with possibly bringing caro-vettes. That could put our vette total up near 15(??).
Daniel
PS. My car will be done by then, and tworoddies(??) said his should be also. Might be a nice inagural cruise for people who've done projects over the winter. Maybe we can talk some charlotte/raleigh owners into making the journey. We could cruise the 'banks on saturday(we'll we could get about half of them done in one day), and hang out sunday.
I like the other banks idea(sorry for the re:p:ost this quick). I think the ferry ride alone would be a picture perfect moment(putting all vette's on one ferry would be pretty cool.). We could pretend its coincadence. :jester
Sounds great and would really give me the push to get my car done. I just need to swap out some parts that I have sitting in the garage and take a trip to the muffler shop and I am done...... (I'll never be done but I'll be on the road)
I like the idea of starting at the Jax mall and heading over to emerald island. We might find a bar or something to hang out at. I always have a great time at Gargoils<sp> Irish Pub.
I don't know if I'll be ready for a trip to the outer banks. I'd like to break down closer to home....
Sounds Great but Easter weekend is out for me because its my brothers 40th birthday and we have big plans for him. We also have family coming down from Maryland that weekend and I won't be able to do any hang'in out with Vette buddies. I will be out giving rides to family though. I just moved to Emerald Isle from TX (grew up in NC) and am looking for some good Vette guys/gals in the area. Try and make it the weekend after Easter and I am there.
John
we're still kicking around the date. I think easter weekend may not be good anyway, because of the extreem traffic through emrald isle. Plus the parking lot I suggested will be packed. But the weekend after should be calm enough to pull this off.
By the way, I live a short drive away in swansboro(like 5-10 minutes). I'd love to see your car in person one day.
I saw that you work on the Island.......where??? I usualy take it out when its good weather and I can drive it to where you are. DO you drive your daily? Let me know and if it isn't raining tomorrow I'll pop on by your work.
John
theandies: I start saturday, but I will be working at Box Office Bagles in emrald plantation. Its not the best job, but it should do for now. :)
Im on spring break right now so Im just sitting around waiting for my intake to get back from the machine shop. I plan to drive it daily starting this summer, but right now I drive a VW jetta usually.
trueduels: defanitly e mail me (dan-007@ec.rr.com). I guess we're looking at the weekend after easter to do this. If caro-vettes gets involved, maybe we can meet at smithfeilds(but the mall is a pretty common place that many people can find). If we meet there before about 9:00, the parkinglot will be empty, so it will be pretty easy to get everyone together. We can meet, get organized, and head off to emrald isle. Im just trying to get a general number so I can call some places, like indian beach to see what they say about their parking lot being full of vettes, and so forth.
Daniel.......I have more or less droped out of Caro-Vettes but will pass on the information to them. I know myself and Tom (75 red vett) will be there. I'll use any reason for a road trip. I have added several go fast parts since I last saw you
Let me know what time you start on Saturday and me and the wife will jump in the Vette and come get a Bagle.
Saturday is St. Patties day party. We should be packed. I pick the best times to start a job. :) But that would be awesome. Im hoping to have mine done saturday so I can drive it. I work from 8:00 until????(whenever they close unless I get fired).
Hey guys, this sounds like a great idea. I actually live in the Raliegh/Durham are but, I own a condo down at Emerald Isle. I have an '81 that is being prepped for a fresh paint job so, I probably won't make the trip in the Vette but, I would love to attend such a cool event. Also, theandies, that is an incredible color on your Vette!!!! I would love to see that color in person.I am actually going to be down at Emerald Isle this weekend(Saturday) and would love to meet both of you . Let me know where you guys will be or a way to contact you and maybe we can meet.
ya AM. Unless they do it in shifts, I'll be there until they close, which could be after 8pm, because of the celibration. I just want to make a little money. :)
My job apparently, is to be the guy that keeps the drunks from using the bathroom, so pretend the be drunk, and use the bathroom, and the guy that yells at you will be me. :jester
Let me know where you guys will be or a way to contact you and maybe we can meet.
I'll be at work saturday. But I can find out what time I get off, then we can attempt to get together for dinner somewhere. Like "mikes place" or something. I also hope to see a lot of you this summer, Im always on the island surfing(ok, TRYING to surf).
Do you know where the BP is?? I live on Cedar street across from it. Give me an e-mail and we can work something out. I am trying to find a job and hopefully I can find something in Raleigh (That is where I grew up) because I got laid off about 2 months ago and moved back to the area from Texas.
John
Wont be able to make this one, but I have family in New Bern, so I head that way once in while. Keep me up to date with future events, and I'll try to make it.
hey guys; in case you didn't know, we Corvettes International are having a charity car show April 20th in Cary, NC. It is an open class fun show, rain or shine. $15 to register, our club car are NOT entered. I can email a show flyer on power point if you want one. Thanks when mine gets out of the paint shop I can go cruisin' too....
I would like to go but that may be a bit too far for a weekend drive.
There are a lot of Corvette guys in the Tidewater area of Virginia that could probably make it to an event in Nags Head. I would definitely be up for that.
