Default 68 Throttle Pedal

Does anyone know if you can use a late 69 throttle pedal shaft in a 68.
The 68 appears to use a 2 piece set up and th late 69 uses a 1 piece.

im not sure, but if you go on line to places like corvette central, or ecklers, or willcox corvette, they sometimes show an exploded view of each item if you look around. it may be helpful look at a 68 gas pedal mounting bracket verses a 69. etc. etc. tom

Yes, you can use the 1 piece rod if you replace the mount block also. I did this in the last year or so with great results. Search the forum - there are several threads that will yield the part numbers for all of the pieces EXCEPT for the plate that goes on top of the block and holds the shaft/rod in the block. As others have done, I made the top plate quite easily out of a piece of 1/8" steel.

Has anyone used an aftermarket gas pedal assembly (Lokar?) that fits in place of the '68 unit?

Yes, you can use the later pedal assembly (single piece steel rod).
It is cheaper, though, to simply replace the parts for the 68 style 2 piece. This is what I did, and it works great again.

And, try to check that you are getting full actustor linkage throw. My gas pedal was only pulling back 75% of the way. My son bent the top of the pedal ( the flat, twisted stock) back and depressed the pedal to make sure I was getting full throw. It's made a nice difference.
