Default Body Mount Shims

I replaced the aluminum body mounts on my 68 this weekend. My car has always sat lower on the left side and I was hoping the new mounts and #4 reinforcments would correct this.

Where is the best spot on the car to measure height? Does anyone know what the correct height is. If my left side is about 1" lower is shimming possible to correct this?

What height are you reffering to ? Sill height, height of the mounts on the chassis ?

I would not to any correcting with the car sitting on the springs.

I you want to measure the height of the bodymounts on the frame : Basically you would have to bring the front and rear up to height to do any measurements at the points in between. It is virtually impossible with the body on the frame. You need to project some plane above or below the frame as a reference.

Hi FF,
There is some good information in the AIM. It's a sheet titled "Trim Heights". In my 71 Aim it's UPC 0, Sheet A-12.
It gives dimensions for checking both various suspension components and various places on the body.
My guess would be that your 'difference' is more likely related to suspension than to the number of body shims. For there to be a diference of 1" there NEEDS to be a solution beyond body shims.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

The purpose of the mounts is not to level out a car that is crooked. The number of mounts (usually) is zero to 4. I think you have another problem maybe springs or possibly even a sagging frame if it's real bad.

from top of rear spoiler to ground I have close to one inch difference on the two sides. I used same number of shims on each side when installing body mounts. Looking for correct way to determine correct number of shims to use. The car was sitting crooked prior to mount change.
