Default Power steering problem.

I have a 73 with a problem on the power steering. The steering is hard, but just when i turn right. It seems normal when the car is cold.

The previous owner did tell me about the problem and also about a small leak.

I took some pictures:

How can i solve this problem?

Thanks.

I had the same problem as you describe,i got the front end off the ground and turned the wheel lock to lock several times until the wheel turned evenly/easily.This removed air from the system.Hope your problem is as straight forward as mine was..

Is the leak from the control valve, steering cylinder, hose? You can rebuild valve & cylinder. I've never had much succcess when I rebuild in my garage; I think you could have a hydraulic shop rebuild for about 1/2 the cost of new.

What the previous owner said:

"the power steering valve has a small fluid leak at one of the hose
connections"

i posted a picture of a leak... i'm not sure it's related to the steering, but i hope so

Wipe everything down and run it again, then check for leaks.
I did that and only saw fluid on the control valve and cylinder, so I only rebuilt those. If the rod on your cylinder has any nicks that catch your fingernail, it's shot - get a new one.

Sounds like a control valve problem to me...

If you need to replace any of the components let me know. I don't recommend rebuilding a PS valve unless you've got someone around who has done it before.

Two things cause hard steering in one direction. A badly adjusted control valve, or a bad steering ram.
