Default What do I have here?

I recently inherited from my father-in-law what I thought was a very original 1979 L-82. I have now learned that it is in fact a numbers matching L-48 (v.i.n. #1Z8789S453057) with L-82 hood emblems. It also has an edelbrock performer intake and an edelbrock model 1904 795 cfm carb. The exhaust appears stock, although I will be replacing it with headers and true dual exhaust soon. Is there any way to estimate the h.p. with this setup? I am not sure about any other mods? Where should I look for other mods/upgrades?

Not knowing what other mods you have, there is no way to tell you what HP the car has. 79 was just getting into the lower hp motors and they put more into the style and comfort of the cars.
You can always take it down and have it dynoed. The best thing you can do to honor your late father inlaw is to fix it up and drive it. They are fun cars and with the help of this forum, easy to work on and parts available still... welcome to the forum

I will just say that the Edelbrock Q-Jet carb is plenty adequate for ANY 350 cu. in. engine....regardless of the heads, intake and exhaust system you put on it. Jets and rods will modify it for any specific application and it has the capability of nearly 800 cfm of flow regulated upon engine demand.
