Default Lars's carb work

I want to have Lars do my carb work for me. I trust him because I have been a part of the corvette forum for a few years now and fell like we are all pals. My dad on the other hand is not so sure about this. Who all here has had Lars work on their carbs? I know of his loner carb work and I'll use that as one of his references. Please send in all comments. The more the better.

jonny -
I'll respond here just to get you back up to the top again. I've done carbs for quite a few of the Forum members, so if they don't see your request for input, I can send you a few e-mail addresses of people that I've done carbs for, including some of the ones that have not performed as hoped so you can have them tell you how I deal with the problems when they arise. I can also send you a little info sheet on the rebuilding services so you know what to expect. Just drop me an e-mail and I'll send you out a description.

Lars did my distributor, have not taken the car out of storage to install it and try it out, but the process was painless, sent the distributor out, Larts did the job, sent it back and it looks great!!! Quick turnaround, even with him suffering a wreak with his car! I think if you do a search on Lars, you'd find numerous happy customers. My carb is going to him once I get the car out and play a little. I need a fix since the car has been in storage since November and the weather is getting better every day,

jonny4523 I sent a carb to lars Mine had to cross the border and travel along way back. Believe me You are better off sending a particular carb (quadrajet) to someone that is doing as many carbs as lars is just for that reason only. Places that do all makes don't come across the little things that someone who see's the same type notices. After watching the post's lars has made on what he has found convinced me that he was the man. When someone finds the uncommon you know he is doing a through job. Common stuff is a easy find. :)

I'd like to say a couple of words about Lars. I have not yet sent him my carb (be sure that I will soon though), however I'm running the original prototype recurve kit that Lars developed for our vettes. Lars spent many hours developing and testing this kit on my vette FOR FREE so that he may supply the rest of our corvette community with a quality product that you can't get off the shelf. His attention to detail and personal touch are second to none. He has given out his e-mail address and personal telephone number on many occasions for anyone who needs a little help. There are a thousand wonderful things I could say on Lars' behalf, but I'll cut this short for now.

Basically Lars is a great person who just happens to have a talent for what he does and is willing to share his talents with us. He is definitely a huge asset to the corvette community.

Can't say enough good things about Lars.

When I was traveling through Denver last year, I got in touch with him via the Forum. We had never met but he called me at my in-laws and invited me over to his house for a tuning session. We drank some beer, tuned my car and he asked for nothing in return.

Lars is a true classic and gentleman.

Lar's rebuilt my distributor and I couldn't be more pleased! The guy does superb work and is honest as the day is long. He had my distributor, and one evening the phone rang with a call from Colorado. It was Lar's. I can't get a local shop tech on the phone to save my life and he called from another time zone.
Try asking if anyone has anything bad to say about him or his work. I'd bet you wont get a response!

Just got mine back a few weeks ago. Found the carb was not the original for the 427 and was not jetted correctly. He has resolved the problem with the correct jets for my application as well as cleaning and replacing the serviceable components. I had a misfire problem and an off-idle lag before I sent him the carb. After installing, the car idled much soother and no popping coming from the exhaust(thanks to Lars's gasket kit, found bubba had a missing gasket between the carb and maifold.) Although I have only driven the car twice since the reinstallation, the vehicle has much better performance. I had an issue with the secondaries not opening correctly, but Lars helped me through that problem (accelerator cable was not in the corret position on the throttle plate). I have yet to run the car after moving the accelerator cable to the correct position. I wouldn't hesitate to have Lars do more work on my vehicle. He is prompt, courteous, and has great customer service(a gold mine in todays world.) I wish he wasn't so far away from me.

Lars has done both of my quadrajets and they run very well as a result. He knows a lot about muscle cars which is becoming a rare trait with the younger mechanics. Tell you Dad I have had nothing but good experience in dealing with Lars.

Lars did mine as well and mine was one of the ones that had problems. After I installed it, the needle wouldn't seat properly and he talked me through the disassembly and I cleaned it multiple times to no avail. He said, "send it back". I paid postage back, after he cleaned it, he removed the needle hook and put it back together and sent it back no charge, not even for shipping back. I put her on and she fired right up. He spent over and hour on the phone with me just discussing it, not to mention the time he spent with the carb and all he did was apologize . . . go figure. He's willing to help a novice to an expert and he'll work on a $5000 beater C3 one day and a $45,000 C2 the next and treat both owner's cars like they are priceless.

SEND HIM YOUR CAR, BEST DEAL GOING!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

Cant say enuff good abt his carb rebuild on my '76 Q-Jet.....It was stumblin a bit on take off but he solved that problem for sure. WOT is really a grin now too. Turn around time from Michigan to Colorado was next to nothing, he doesnt set on them. Got a real nice spec sheet back with it too, along with some final tuning tips.....Get it to him, you WONT be sorry!!!!!!!!!! :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: . Also just lit her off today after installing his recurve kit. Still tweakin her in but am impressed with that already also......... :seeya

I spent 15 years in consumer electronics, last 10 as shop manager, then another 5 years doing flying tech rep work for a small engineering company product line....

I can assure you that IF there was much of anything negative to say, it would be all over the web...but all we hear is positive....
unfortunately it's human nature to bitch....but stingy with compliments...

NOW in the face of that observation....the statements above mean ALOT!!!

I have the pleasure of calling Lars my friend. It all started with tuning sessions on my C-2, and friends Vettes. You will not find more of a perfectionist as well as great guy. He rebuilt my original Holly that was a complete cf and turned it into a diamond. But as things go that wasn't enough for me so I bought a Demon, he installed it and rejetted it and made it run great. That same afternoon it was really bugging him that my hood was not perfectly aligned, next thing I know he is fixing that. He also just grafted in the new body panels on my buddies 64, replacing the blinkers that a previous owner had removed to try for the grand sport look. He actually apologized that it took all of 5 or 6 hours to do both sides(this would have taken my friend and I roughly 20 hours to make it look half as good).
he has also rebuilt my distributor and numerous other projects, and I will probably have him repaint my 66 as well. You do NOT find better people than Lars. :yesnod:
I am really fortunate to live only 20 minutes from him.
if you have any questions, or your father does, please E-mail me. I will be happy to tell you anything you want to know.

Kurt

Lars rebuilt one Holley for my wife and is working on another one. It's pretty difficult to find someone who is, as good, as honest, and who know quadrajets as well as Lars. I'm getting ready to send him both the quadrajets off of my vettes and a spare. It's smart to be leary of people on the net, but Lars is one of the good ones. :seeya
