My window motor I bought a year ago failed. It had warrenty so I got a replacement. When it did not work, I plugged it in the other door (both panels were off) and it did not work there. The replacement of the replacement did the same thing.
at this point I check the plugs with a meter and the voltage read .04 at both plugs. If not for the fact that that the other window goes up and down I would assume the wiring was bad.
The motors do run at 12v right? What else could cause this issue?
You did test motor by grounding the motor frame and only touching 12VDC to a single terminal. If it is failing this test or not working for long, I would suspect the window spring has broken in the window regulator which is a common issue with C3 Vettes.
Sounds like you had no ground , when you read .04 were you checking between the 2 leads in the plug ? If so you need to check one lead at the plug and ground your other test lead to the door frame. ( i think Solid said about the same thing)
nothing helps you find your issue like sharing with the world how stupid you are. I did not look at wiring diagrams and just assumed the two leads were switched 12v/ground vs ground/12v. When I tested it the unit was in my hand with just the plug in the unit. Touched the unit to the door and it worked great.
glad my family did not see the position I had to get in to set the bottom bolt.
Now if I can get the window adjusted never was any good at that. May have to pay body shop.
