vacuum system problem

vacuum system problem
so i'm trying to get the headlights and windshield wipers to work.
Everything seems to be connected in the engine bay, under the dash I've read that vacuum lines are supposed to connect somewhere behind **** I use to turn on the lights.
Now my problem, under the dash I found two vacuum lines both with golf tees stuck in them. I'm assuming these are it? Is that right? and where exactly should they connect?
Also, my right windshield wiper tries to move and does a little bit, but my left one doesn't seem to do anything at all. Any ideas? thanks!

and what the hell is that switch for? I think I found it but I don't know what it does.
Also, I found some issues with the vacuum tubing.
There are two tubs coming out from where the lights **** is. One is goes all the way through the firewall and into the engine bay. The other one has a golf tee stuck in it and ends under the dash. But then there is another tube through the firewall with a tee in it. And then on the other side of the firewall, but tubes have golf tees in them. where do they go? Holy god

Your vacuum canister most likely does not look that shown in the pic. .
I have a more of a squared off tank located in my drivers' fenderwell behind the wheel in the engine compartment (under and to the side of the Master cylinder...check here for a vacuum tank.)
The switch you ask about is the manual overide headlamp door switch in case the regular switch does not function. when you pull it out, the headlight doors should pop up.
there should be two (2) vacuum hoses from the overide switch under the column that are integrated into the other hoses. follow the diagram above, but if you have the wiper door vacuum system, you will need to see the complete vacuum diagram as it in effect is one system.

What year is your Vette, and do you have the retracting wiper door system? If you do, the wiper vacuum system will be integrated into the lighting vacuum hoses and does complicate things for most enthusiasts.
Your vacuum canister most likely does not look that shown in the pic. .

O.K. no problem then. Your 81 should not have the wiper door and no additional vacuum lines to complicate things then.
If you follow Willcox;s diagram above and correctly route your hoses accordingly, you should have a working system. Let us know what happens.
