Soon I'll be putting the plastic liner back in the door of my '69.
Where do I get the gooy black adhesive?
Is there a 3M product or can I get it at NAPA?
I'm also trying to find replacements for the "striker like" plates for the door. They're the bronze/cooper colored metal that rub against each other. People say to try Paragon Auto Parts, but I get a security warning not to logon to the site! What gives?
Hi Mike,
The original sealer had a string in it, but I've never seen that in reproduction. 3M strip caulk in black from your local auto parts store will work. You don't happen to have a passengers side seal you don't need do you?
Paragon Corvette Reproductions and other larger vendors have the door alignment wedges you're looking for.
Regards,
Alan
I'm thinking that the black gooey adhesive you need is the 3M weather stripping adhesive sold in the tube at most all auto parts stores (red and white box). It stays pliable and does not dry out.
Try Wilcox for the other and I am not sure about the Paragon site issue. what website are you trying? this one https://www.paragoncorvette.com/
The original 'sealant' was a non-hardening product...so that the plastic liner could be removed and re-used. I would think that you'd want to use something similar for that same reason.
