Don't know or care why, but my 70 (11-1) L-46 runs great max lead 2000+sunoco 260 ultra. Also have used aviation 100LL.

lol...so many things with these cars of ours are not 'required'...such as the cars themselves. Like I said, I'm not going to worry about it. Adding a little lead won't hurt anything, MAY protect my not-really-at-risk valve seats, and I can tell anyone who asks, "yeah, I add some lead additive to every tankful of gas"

That's cool. Just please don't add 'I use it cause if I don't bad things will happen'

You'd think we'd have run out of mechanics and gas station attendants in the decades prior to the 70s.

As I recall, this seemed not to happen.

I think he was referring to the concentrated lead additive, not leaded gas.
