Default Half Shaft U-Joint Straps?

I just replaced my 3.08 with a 4.11 and in my 68 and noticed the 4.11 has threaded side yokes, instead of clearance holes like my orginal 3.08.. Does anyone know the part number for the u-joint straps (Spicer) for the side yokes thare threaded? I have made 2 trips to the parts store and they keep giving me the wrong spicer strap kits...

Thanks

It is not a strap but an actual cap. You are better off ordering from a Corvette Vendor. Here is Zip's listings:

Thank you, do you know what size the threads are in the yokes? The guy at the parts store said they must be metric since the ones he gave me didnt fit, which I believe were 5/16 (they were too small)..

They are 3/8" bolts, 2" long and if I remember correctly coarse thread. The caps were used on the bb side yokes.

I used black oxide finish flange head grade 8 bolts with 2 piece serrated lock washers on the 68.

I just threaded in a 3/8" coarse thread bolt and it fits but its very sloppy, even when turned in at least 7 or 8 threads (I can still wobble the bolt).. I'm not sure what year this rear end came out of but is it possible a newer year had metric threads? It just seems like I might easily pull the threads out if I use a standard threaded bolt.

You may be better off not going back to that parts guy. Have you found any metric bolts on your 68?
We have the caps and bolts in stock, the caps are SU-133 and are $21.95 ea and the bolts are BL-200 are 8.50 per pack. The bolts are 7/16-20.

Its not a 7/16-20, I can guarantee that.. I have a handful of 7/16-20 bolts and just verified they are way to big.. My tire lug nuts are also 7/16-20 so I also verified the bolt by threading it in the lug nut...

should be 3/8-16

maybe he looked up the wrong bolt kit. 7/16-20's are the spindle flanges and caliper mounting bolts.

That sounds like the bolt size for the pinion yoke on the diff which does use a smaller bolt.

We do stock the caps for the HD side yokes. Let me know if we can help or answer questions.

Opps looked up the wrong ones, Dan was right the 7/16 are the flange bolts. The 3/8-16 are the yokes. Either way we have both in stock.

Could be that or the straps and bolts 80-81 4 spd & All 82 cars. They also use a 1350 series joint but the straps are super thin like the drive shaft straps.

If the diffy you installed is 'used', the threads could have been damaged or re-cut by someone else.

I have a set of HD straps on order now so I'll know more about the threads in the yokes when they arrive.. Maybe the 3/8 test bolt I used was a little under sized or worn.
