Default REAR Suspension Question?

OK I got REAR of the car off the Ground. When you pull in and out on the tire. The Side yoke on both sides go in and out. About 2 inches. Trailing ARM bushing look to be bad. back with both back tires off the ground a lot of play in the rear end. Side to side that is. what could it be. I just redone the REAR Suspension on my 82. But this is on a 79. What can it be?

Sounds like you picking up play in the rear end yokes. I would disconnect the 1/2 shafts and check the play in the yoke in the rear end. Over .080" and I would replace them and take a good look at the other things in there-bearigns, clutches, seals. You have to pull the differential to get the yokes out. Also check the strut rod bushings to see if they're rotted and loose. You already know about the T arm bushings, how do the rear bearings feel by hand?

2 inches

If by yokes you mean the ones on the differential you better get that fixed pronto. Gary, if they are moving 2 inches I bet bandy could just pull them out as the clips are long gone.

The side yoke actually moves 2 inches  I didnt catch that in the IM you sent..Those yokes must be replaced immediately - dont drive the car - You've got two snap rings floating around in the rear and they will do lots of damage if they are picked up by the gears. Apart from the way the diff mounts to the frame and the strut rods to the diff - there isnt any difference between your '82's rear and the '79
