Default Your opinion on this 68 problem , please.

Looking down on the drivers side sill you can see it is bowed in and out and actually up , which makes the sill plate rub the bottom of the door panel. The car has had a frame put under it , and I'm thinking maybe the mounts are shimmed incorrectly causing the sill area to buckle. Thoughts ? Thanks.

I know the pic is bad. The fiberglass wrapped around the birdcage is crooked as a dogs hind leg. I'm thinking body mounts 3 and 4 need more shims but my door gap is darn good.
Could the birdcage have rusted enough to raise the sill ?

Remove the sill plate and see what's under it.

I don't see much difference in the pic. Can you get it into the light or add additional lighting to the pictures?

I'm thinking the rocker channels are shot. The fiberglass covering them is thin and I think the only way they would ripple like that is if the metal underneath was rotted. You should be able to shine a light up into the rocker channel from underneath to see the condition of the rocker channels.

I just did. (read below)

I'll try to get better pics tomorrow but I think I accomplished what I needed to get the door to clear. Moved the door up , found a happy medium in the body opening, brought the door in slightly high in the rear and then used the door striker to pull it down. Looks pretty good and closes nice.

Your right once I removed the sill plates I could see the rust under the fiberglass was forcing the glass upward. The vertical glass under the side rocker panel is what has me thinking the body mounts are not right. I think both ends of the body are low.

Default Car was jacked up in the middle and may have bent the frame.

Just trying to help with what u have told us and pictures can lie. But if car was jacked up in the center and the frame couldn't handle it that what u could get. Like others mentioned look for rusted rocker channels. But something had to make it bend.
FYI there are jack points for lifting the car on the frame at each end of the door.

Good luck and let us know what u find,

These Vettes are made with lots of steel under the fiberglass. If the sills are bad you might just look at the headlite header as the rivets will show as a small bump under the paint. There is about 34 of them....

I'll look tomorrow but I think I'll be able to count everyone of them.
