Default Vent *****-What size Allen wrench??

I never had a problem getting the vent ***** off my '68 when I had it, but for some reason I can't find the right size Allen wrench for my '73. Does anyone know the specific size Allen wrench I should be using? I know it's a really small size.

Thanks, Andy

I don't know the specific size off-hand but I DO know that my Sears set of Allen keys had the correct one - and it is indeed very small.

Sorry for vagueness. that set of keys was cheap, I know that.

Andy, it is just a small one. Don't know the size either and I just had mine off and on. Any small set will have it. If you insist I can check for you.

Also your profile shows nothing about your 68. Please post info and pics

Thanks guys. I'll try the 9/64. I'm sure that will work unless Bubba stripped the nut.

Shmoky, I sold the '68 last year. I put a lot of work into it and made it a very nice convertible for the new owner. It had the original 327 with rally red paint and special order saddle interior (69 color) from the factory. That car was perfect when it left my garage for the last time. I sold it looking for a new project which I found with the '73 just three weeks after selling the '68; I got very luck. The '68 model year has to be my favorite. A lot of guys don't like them because of the one year only parts and a bad review from Car and Driver 40 years ago (give me a break). I'll probably sell my '73 someday and will strongly consider going back to a '68. The only difference this time will be the 427!!!!!

Take care, Andy

Default 1/16 is correct

1/16 is the correct size-I just removed them today. Not the most common size in a standard Allen wrench set.

Default vent ****- allen wrench size

If you work on euro/ricers your 1.5 metric works as well. Oh, and hold the wrench parallel to the console face
