Default 427/400 will not start

69 orginal 427/400 tri power. Took out of garage today to replace line for the oil pressure gauge. After replacing line inside car and on the block. Could not get the car restarted. Battery is strong for a while but it never cranks. Seems to be getting gas, but no sure about the orginal transiter ignition. The ground strap is broke that goes to the exhaust clamp. That would not be enough to not let it start. Should i pull plug to see if getting fire. Thanks for the help

Pull a plug wire, stick a screwdriver in place of the plug- that will show you if you're getting a spark or not. No spark, check the cap and rotor first. After 40 years, it's a tossup after that. I'd look at the pickup coil in the distributor- the 2 wires from it move everytime the vacuum advance moves and they do break. I think I have a troubleshooting tree for the K66 TI someplace- If I can find it, I'll post it.

FWIW: If you do discover the TI amp is dead, there are options- you can get new guts for the TI amp, or install a Summit (Mallory) ignition box and use your original distributor.

So you were able to start it before you worked on it today? And then you worked on it (replacing the oil line from the block to the guage) and then it wouldn't start? Did you have to remove the dash to change that? If so, I would look very carefully at everything you touched today while working on the car. Also, I don't understand what you mean :
Battery is strong for a while but it never cranks.

Check [thoroughly] to determine if you accidentally damaged the connection on the distributor wire going to your coil [both at the coil and in the distributor]. That wire is in the same area as the oil pressure tube and may have been damaged during your work.
