BBC Stock Heads
I believe the BBC stock heads have a exhaust valve disc rotator which must be removed to install new springs for a higher lift cam. Is this true or could one possible change out springs with the heads installed. Any engine machinists out there? Thanks again.

I am guessing you did not believe me when I told you about the smog rotators. You can change the springs with the heads on the car.You can stack shims up which I would not advise or put the cups in place of the rotators or run new springs on top of the rotators if same diameter is used .What are going to do about increasing retainer to valve seal clearance though with the head on the car?
You might want to pull a valve cover off to see if the heads are equipped with these.

No that is not the case. I probably misstated what I am trying to learn. I have not taken apart a BBC head for valves and am not clear on the physical layout of the valves and the so called smog rotators. Maybe if I did I would not have asked. I guess that I will have to go to a machine shop and hope they have some old ones that I can look at and not bother them.
