I am trying to complete my transfer to Hooker Side Mount exhaust. The last issue (I hope) is related to the a/c compressor mounting. The stock bracket, pic attached, will not work with the headers.
The bracket made by Hooker appears to be made for a different a/c unit.
Has anyone had this issue and specifically how did you overcome it?
As always thank you for your assistance.
Years ago on my '72 SB, I thought the Hooker supplied a/c mount looked flimsy. Keeping my original a/c mount for any future restoration, I got an identical used oem a/c mount and ground the clearance I needed to clear the Hooker tubes. Been trouble free/rock steady for some 30 years now.
You say it won't work ? Why ? Can you take a grinder to it and make it work ? I have a '76 and fixing to mount headers . Just looking at mine I may need to grind a small section and use some sort of spacers/washers ...but it sure looks like I can use it ?
I bought the special A/C bracket that Hooker sells for my '76 application. After getting the bracket, I wish I had just put a grinder to the old one. Nothing wrong with the one from Hooker, but it looked just like my stock one with some clearancing . . . would have save me a few $$$.
Thank you all for the replies. I did try to search the forum prior to posting but did not come up with the link Scott provided.
Thanks Scott, and everyone else for the help!!!!!!!!
