As I`ve stated my 1980 L82 radiator has started to leak ,I would like to replace it and keep it as close to OEM as possible where do I find a correct radiator? Is Dewitts the place I want to use?
that would be the logical choice (dewitts) their direct fit aluminum radiator would
be a nice upgrade, call them i'm sure they can disguise it with special paint to look
oem, but would cool much better. by the time the shroud and brackets are installed most people wont know the difference.
It will cost you more to repair one that had stop leak in it than just getting yours recored and checked out. A recore will cost you less than half what a 'direct-fit' new radiator will cost you. And, if done properly, will be just as good as a new unit. DO NOT let them use some chinzy core to do the job; tell them you want a core equivalent to the original unit.
I replaced mine with a brand new, not a re-build one and it was only 190.00 new in the box, exact same has I had , worked like a charm and it was cheap! Ron
