Default Best Engine Oil

Is there an opinion on which is better for my 1968, 327 with 95,000 miles.

Castrol Syntec 20W-50
Mobile 1 15W-50

Should I add any STP additive?

there is no best oil. It depends on usage, frequency of use, type of engine, driving conditions.....etc etc etc....

oil is oil and what you get off the shelf is going to be about the same.

Now...we can help you pick an oil, but we would need more information.

I just went thru a oil lesson doing my own research and what I was using it for (new engine start up and break-in)...

Most oils you get off the shelf today are crap for flat tappet engines.

either Shell ROTELLA T or Mobil DELVAC 1300 or Chevron DELO 400LE (& their equivalents) ... ALL are Non-synthetic diesel truck oils, are SAE 15W-40 and widely available at reasonable $.

WIX makes a good oil filter & most NAPA oil filters are made by WIX.

Can we also tie the "should I use octane boost" question into this thread so we can complete the carnage?

Just kidding, thought I would add my pennies....

He was being facetious I think. Not much point in putting up stickies if people don't read them.

OK, I will put Shell Rotella T 15w40 without any additional additive this weekend.
Who would have thought oil desiged for diesel would work best in a Vet.
Thanks again.

Don't forget about the "should I run a thermostat" disaster.

what's wrong about having a discussion? Sometimes good technical stuff gets thrown out. Don't click if you don't want to see argument.

How do you think the corvette was designed. A bunch of engineers all got in a room and immediately agreed on everything because they didn't want any conflict? I'm really getting sick of all the whiners who can't stand any banter whatsoever.

If you want harmony there is a site run by a fat dude that wears wooden shoes you might like. They run that place with an iron fist.
