Just ordered my Hooker sidemount headers and JCL Spiral Turbo sidepipes and baffles for my 79. One small problem, I have A/C. Is there a special bracket that I need to get for the A/C compressor? If so, does someone have a part number or a source to get it from?
search under the archives... there are a lot on this one. Hooker sells a bracket for the a/c side. Also you could just modify you existing one. Get a grinder and make a little half moon, c-shaped cut at the bottom of the bracket. The tube will fit right in the shape and you are ready to go. You will also need washers to build out the mount.... look in the archives!!!!! :D
When I got my headers they came with everything you need, at least for my 81 it did. If you have the R4 compressor you're fine, I think the brackets are for the real early C3's but I'm not positive.
How's good old Ft. Wainright these days? I was there freezing my kiester off in '83 with HHC 3/17(Planet Ord)...hated it, too cold for any human life :jester
You have the axial compressor(short round one). The hooker instructions will tell you to use the original exhaust manifold stud with a 1.25" long 3/8" id spacer.
I had to hit a couple of hardware stores to find one with a thick wall(1/8").
I ended up a little shorter then that to get everything lined up right.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll make it work somehow.

Still pretty cold up here. Not as bad as it use to be though. Unfortunately, I didn't enlist for an "indoor" job. Makes for a short cruising season. Plenty of time to turn wrenches though. :D
