So my tach drive I found in the ash tray... Figured out what it was and noticed it was missing a few teeth, so further inspection and realised there is a bad spot on the distributor part of the tach drive... grrr.. My question is the gear on the distributor easy to replace? I noticed in the books they make a new style kit, so makes me think this was a on going issue.

Thanks!
The shaft must be replaced. Willcox has everything you need.

If the gears stripped, it's because the crossgear has worn itself into the inside thrust surface of the distributor housing, damaging the housing. You must correctly repair the housing damage (with a custom machined thrust surface filler) before you install any news parts: If you put a new mainshaft and crossgear into your distributor, the crossgear will lock up and strip out again immediately.

You have to fabricate your own parts to fix the housing - there are no parts you can buy that will repair the housing damage. Once you have it repaired, you can buy the new mainshaft and crossgear and assemble the distributor.
