Default PCV valve is it needed?

on my 77 i still have the PCV valve in the valve cover. but all other smog stiff is gone down to the egr valve deleted with a performer non egr intake. now is the PCV valve needed or can i remove that to and plug off the hole with a breather cap. and plug the port on the carb off. is there any effects?

Default PCV valve is needed?

Yes, at least on a street driven vehicle.

Yeah you need to run one. Mine is basically a race engine driven on the street and I use a PCV, it is necessary to clear the toxic gases out of the bottom of the motor and also keeps the opposite valve cover with the breather clean from oil mist.

No. A stock engine is pretty.

Sure! Plumb it up with chrome plated tubing and plate the metal on the PCV valve with pure gold!! But, rubber hose and a PCV valve from Advance Auto does it for me.

You can get purdy ones, if it's shiney I got it under my hood, it's about 20 times more expensive than a stock OEM PCV and probably doesn't work a well too

It's kind of like farting with panty hose on. If you don't have a PCV Valve your ankles will swell up.
You have to let the crank case breathe.

Yes the PCV valve is a good thing .

wow that one is priceless.

See motorhead yours in on a 427 its in the back a 350 goes over the water neck. i dunno just not a fan of it there looks clutered guess possibly i could turn the valve cover around then plumb it around the carb. and you don't have everything shiny i see you could use a new chrome ALT, water pump, edelbrock endurashine intake, chrome top for the MSD plug cover, chrome cover for the coil pack some more braided hose lol.

I do like the valve covers those are some nice welds on those where's ya get those and do they come in 350 form?

Remember the Boy Scouts? Keep it Simple..........
Here's an engine i built for a Datsun with $2 worth of pcv. The chrome overshadows the PCV.
I've tried drag racing with just breathers........oil everywhere!
PCV=good
EGR, chokes, air pump=bad

Mines a 427ci small block you can put the PCV on either side and toward the front or back, so it can be placed in 4 different locations

elke , check out billet specialites at the summit racing site, they probably got breathers that have PCV built into them, so it will match your other regular breather.
